LINKÖPING, SWEDEN – JT Global, the incumbent communications company on the Isle of Jersey, has implemented network management software from Swedish open access network management specialist Netadmin Systems. The company, formerly known as Jersey Telecom, is deploying an open-access fiber-to-the-home network to all 42,000 premises on Jersey over a three-year period. The Isle of Jersey is a major global financial center.
JT Group began a pilot test of the Netadmin solution in December 2011 and is now rolling it out across the whole project to automate service fulfillment and assurance processes. Netadmin will also provide a user-friendly platform from which JT and other service providers on and off the island can launch their services.
“With the implementation of a full FTTH network planned, and such an advanced network management system soon in place, Jersey is one of the most innovative and commercially viable environments to do business in the Western hemisphere,” says JT’s chief operations and technology officer, Dave Newbold. “Netadmin is recommended by some of the most experienced FTTH network engineers and has an excellent track record in projects across the world. With a dominant presence in Sweden, one of the world’s most advanced countries for fiber infrastructure, they are coming from a position of knowledge and experience.”
The platform provides functional support for automated service fulfillment, including inventory and resource management as well as ticket management and SLA statistics. It also speeds up network troubleshooting because it offers a complete view in one system.
Netadmin is working alongside technology partners Cisco, Genexis and Dimension Data on the project.
